"When the voices in my head are loud, the ocean is louder. When my worries feel too big, the ocean is always bigger. When I meet the ocean with heartache, it gives me somewhere to drown it."
it goes without saying that every single one of us has been impacted by the pandemic in some way or another. "hello (from here)" follows two teenagers with varying backgrounds that find love in an unlikely situation. i skimmed through a huge chunk of this book. i definitely relate to jonah with his panic and anxiety disorders, but aside from the mental illness rep, i didn't get much out of this story. the ending felt arguably rushed.

Ok so I was actually really surprised by this book. I was hesitant to read it at first because who wants to read about real world problems when there are plenty of other books to read that aren’t talking about a topic that hits too close to home. In the end though I really enjoyed the romance and the plot in general.

Super sweet. A perfect start to what I’m sure will be a pandemic genre for years to come. A mix of rom com, indie vibes, California cool, and starcrossed crushes

So I orginally requested this months ago but never read it but I was in the mood for a romance and the cover is very cute.
I knew going in what the contents would be, This book has covid as the plot essentially and I think if maybe covid died or went away and then this came out I would've had different thoughts but I think this was definitely written way to early. I kinda felt my anxiety catching up. it's very difficult to enjoy something that enhances your anxiety.
I liked the writing though I thought it was very accessible and easy to read and I do reccomend this if you want a cute romance because the romance between the two protagonists is cute but it wasn't really the book for me.

It was kind of odd reading a book about what it was like during the pandemic because for me it has been a year already almost 2 since the pandemic. I enjoyed reading this book and I thin it portrayed the COVID pandemic really well.

Reading a book about the early days of the pandemic is, for lack of a better word, so fucking weird.
Hello (from Here) makes me feel almost nostalgic for those early days of quarantine. But the book is also incredibly anxiety-inducing.
Now, when it comes to the romance part of the book, I can't say I didn't enjoy it. It wasn't anything groundbreaking. It felt realistic: just two teenagers flirting very awkwardly, kind of adorable, and only slightly cringy.
My only issue is that it was so slow, although I guess that's also the point.
