I mean... it was fine and pretty much exactly what you’d expect. I’m not generally a fan of Nicholas Sparks books and only read this because it was gifted to me, but I liked it better than any of his other books that I’ve tried to read. 🤷🏻♀️
When my mother asks me to read a book for my opinion, I do.
My opinion is that Nicholas Sparks is not my ministry.

I picked this book because I figured Nicholas Sparks couldn't fail. I will admit that I was disappointed. The plot just didn't work. It seemed like the bulk of the attention capturing in the book was contained in the first 1/3. After that, the book seemed to ramble on and on and then concluded rather quickly and predictably. It wasn't a horrible read, but it definitely wasn't my favorite of his books. Using my half star system, I would actually rate this at a 2.5. So it gets rounded down to a 2 for Goodreads.

I absolutely loved this book. Nicholas Sparks has a real gift. Though some parts were a little dragged out I couldn't bring myself to put the book down. This book made me laugh out loud, almost brought me to tears and made me truly feel for each character. I recommend this book to everyone!
This was my first try with reading Nicholas Sparks. I have to admit, even though there was a lot more exposition than I had anticipated, I enjoyed it. The only reason I didn't give it a five star was because I spotted the ending before it happened. (Not the ending to the love story, of course. It's a romantic book and you know how that's going to work.) I was hoping that there was another way for Taylor (the main) to reconcile with his tragic youth, but in the end I couldn't see how Sparks could have worked it differently.
Stupid book really did pull at my heartstrings. Don't pick it up if you're not prepared with tissues.
