Tis was good. The first Nicholas Sparks novel I read and I wasn't disappointed. The story was nice to read, comfortable and casual, flowed nicely. The thing that I love about contemporary books is that I can fall into the characters and go into their shoes because it's so real and imagine it all for myself in situations such as in the story. The ending was nice though.

I remember reading this on an airplane ride when I was in the 6th grade, and I remember being unimpressed. Still, I read it quickly without setting it down. I'll have to come back to this sometime.

Interesting main character --- I don't think I've ever read a book where the hero is an EMT. A good read, although it spanned 18 years, which always throws me for a bit of a loop.

I picked this book because I figured Nicholas Sparks couldn't fail. I will admit that I was disappointed. The plot just didn't work. It seemed like the bulk of the attention capturing in the book was contained in the first 1/3. After that, the book seemed to ramble on and on and then concluded rather quickly and predictably. It wasn't a horrible read, but it definitely wasn't my favorite of his books. Using my half star system, I would actually rate this at a 2.5. So it gets rounded down to a 2 for Goodreads.

I tear up in very few books, but this book made me cry. It is a wonderful story, incredibly romantic, and real.

despite some super cringey moments I'm a sucker for a love story? ugh

I was reluctant to pick up this book as I was disappointed with the Notebook and wasn't sure I was ready to read another one of Nicholas Sparks' novels. Starting it wasn't hard. I breezed through the beginning. Towards the middle I didn't have trouble putting it down though. It was predictable in the sense that I knew Denise and Taylor would end up together and also when it said that someone died in the fire I knew exactly who it was. Mitch and Melissa were my favorite characters and then without Mitch, Melissa was really different. I was sad when Mitch died but stylistically I knew why Sparks killed him off. The best parts of the book were at the end when Taylor told the whole story about his father died and when both he and Kyle told Denise that they loved her. I had realized that Taylor had never said it while they were dating and I was glad he finally did. Overall The Rescue was a great romance, there were lots of different components that I liked.

ok, so before i write my review, i would like to say that i loooove Nicholas Sparks. He is truly a awesome author. his novel always makes me cry, it is heart-touching and relatable.

now, my review. In this novel, Sparks shows the reader the complexities of today's relationship and in doing so, makes us realize something and learns from it. Uhm.. the plot of the story is somehow cliche. A man who find it hard to love and later on finding himself falling for a women in distress. But Sparks has this deeper understanding of human relationship that added a new flavor to the previous stories.

The Rescue has this thoughtful tone that i love. Many can relate to its story. So yeah, in short-- i found it good to read.

This book started of really well in a very fast paced kind of way that intrigues you and makes you want to read more. It did however slow down just a little too much for a while there (only for few chapters) and this was too slow for my liking. However it did pick back up tremendously and I got right into it reading the second half of the book in one sitting. If it wasn't for that teeny tiny bit of disinterest I felt while reading, I would've rated this a 5 star.

I'm not saying this to disinterest anyone else either nor am I saying this isn't a worthwhile read, because it is. For all I now I just didn't feel like reading that night but did anyway and that's why I couldn't get into it. I think this is an excellent novel and anyone that asks me whether or not they should read it will definitely get a positive response.

Anyone who's read other Sparks novels will enjoy this and anyone who hasn't read any of his novels, well, lets just say you're missing out big time!
