This book was a DNF for me.

The writing style felt very juvenile, a lot of the verbiage felt like something a 13 year old would say. The romance felt incredibly rushed, there was no lead into it, they just met one day and suddenly fell in love. Insta-love stories give me the ick and this was no exception.

Also, the amount of 5 star reviews ignoring that this story is about GROOMING?? Barf. He ages way faster than she does, and is a grown man and a KING before she’s even an adult. He openly admits how hard it was not to touch her, WHEN SHE WAS UNDERAGE. Then, the minute she turns 18 they’re jumping each others bones and this is supposed to be…romantic? Double barf.

The juxtaposition of them being poisoned and vomiting all over the place to “I wanted to have sex tonight

Stopped reading at 20% because the whole age gap thing was weirding me out too much. There were some interesting concepts (time passing at different speeds, cursed until finding a fated mate, etc), but they were handled poorly. The writing was stilted, choppy, and felt immature, which made it hard to get immersed in the world. Overall, I was disappointed in the execution and found the age thing very creepy.

We meet Kirian at 12 years old, who falls into an icy river and saved by Quinn, who is also 12. For Kirian’s curse to be broken, he has to wait for true love and it’s kiss or his blindness will be permanent. Kirian is in live with Quinn and he brings her back to the Night Realm

I absolutely loved this book and the happy ending Kirian and Quinn got. I’m so excited to read Damon’s story soon

So, so, SOOOO good!! I am SO happy that there were no cliffhangers at the end and that we got to see the full story of Quinn and Kirian. I was so enveloped by this book of COURSE I had to get the rest of the series.

“Why?” I demand, panting. “Why would you do that?” Gripping my shoulders, he leans down until we’re nose to nose.

“Because I can live without my sight, but I cannot live without you.”
