I found myself skimming a lot. Generally I enjoy Wallace, but I hear and see enough hideous people in life that I didn't care to read about some of these.

Read some excerpts, if I had a therapist he would hear about this, dnf obviously: do you want me to go insane... Two stars because at least it provoked something in me, Pynchon could never

The thematic consistency is impressive for a short story collection, but it wasn't even the best collection of short stories interrogating late 20th century masculinity that I read this year.

Reactions: discomfort, chuckling, "I know that feeling!", grimacing, and bits of confusion.
This was a collection of short stories, most of which concerned how sex/uality affects human relationships. It wasn't all light reading, and I can't recommend it to everyone, but I think it was worth it (if only for the chance to see the word "oneiromancy" in print!).

My first exposure to David Foster Wallace. He is certainly a master of his craft. The common thread in this collection of "interviews" is men behaving badly, and the unquestionable realism of his writing makes this subject all the more disturbing. I can't say I enjoyed it, but he is an amazing writer.

This is definitely a book I'm going to have to re-read. I believe I currently understand about 20% of it.

Bywa genialnie i bywa nieznośnie.
