What a beautiful book.

The book has been translated from Japanese to English but it has been done so well it translates easily. It tells the story of Satoru and his Cat Nanna, the tale is told from both POV. They embark on a road trip visiting old friends of Satoru. He needs to find a new home for Nanna but Nanna just wants to stay with his human. It is a story of loss, love and friendship and will take you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. I finished the book in tears and with a heavy heart but a huge smile on my face, it is the kind of book that leaves a lasting impression and I found it hard to move on from to be honest.

If like me you have a cat there will be places throughout the book where you will laugh out loads because cats are just a**holes sometimes and Nanna is no different.

Also going through an experience similar with my own Father the closing paragraph in this book will stay with me....

My story will be over soon.
But it’s not something to be sad about.
As we count up the memories from one journey, we head off on another.
Remembering those who went ahead. Remembering those who will follow after.
And someday, we will meet all those people again, out beyond the horizon.
