Update 2023: I reread this book because I have the opportunity to read and review the sequel, which comes out in a few days, and this was a lot better than I remember. I’ve upped the rating from three stars to four. Im still not crazy about the ending, the final chapter, but the rest of the book I enjoyed
I go back and forth on how I feel about this book. Parts of it were a lot of fun, and I enjoyed reading Jade's Slasher reports. After awhile, though, things seemed to drag, and I felt like the ending was a letdown, at least for this particular novel. The way the whole book is set up, the ending didn't seem to fit and felt unbelievable. It felt like it belonged to a different story. That being said, I would be willing to read more if this is indeed meant to be a trilogy, if only to see where the story goes.

slow start but when it gets going it doesn't stop. as a horror fan i loved jade and her constant references. amazing how this story made so many homages yet felt new and fresh. this book also challenged me as a reader as a lot of the prose is showing not telling.
