*3.5 stars

Umbrella Academy continues to be absolutely batshit. At the start of this issue Vanya is a paralyzed amnestic due to her injuries. Allison has lost her voice. Klaus is enjoying being known as the hero for once. Luthor is hiding away from everyone and eating his feelings. And 5 is still being hunted by his former employers.

Number 5 goes into a lot more detail about what was done to him as an employee, including unethical experimentation. He's desensitized to violence and murder, immortal, but relatively pissed at his old employer. Allison is dragged along into his mess when his employers decide that number 5 needs to complete the job he dropped when running out on his contract. Cha-cha and Hazel finally arrive, which excellent, honestly.

There's a lot going on in this issue. Time-travel. Vietnam shenanigans. Vampires. Accidental baby acquisition. Accidental puppy acquisition. Accidental saving the world via so much murder, just all the murder. It's a lot. I'm pretty intrigued to see where it goes next.

Final thought - the side story after the main story about Diego and Vanya's band and their plans to run away and become rock stars just about broke my heart.

3.5? i once again really love the art in this one, but think i prefer the first volume. the decision to make the viet cong vampires is rly odd to me and the political implications of this volume as a whole seem a little underdeveloped? but i did enjoy it ! i wonder if id get smth different out of it if i’d watched the show, a lot of reviewers mention them in tandem.

Number 5 is unhinged and I really liked that. I like how one of the scenes was in the show too.

I don't remember much. But i liked it.
