There's sole very solid material here, and if it only constituted the best tales here it'd be 5 stars. However, precisely because Night Shade Books were trying to compile the complete run of Smith's weird fiction (outside of juvenilia), the book out of necessity includes a number of fairly inferior stories clearly knocked out solely to pay the bills. This drags down the average, but once you've identified those and are able to skip them what remains is golden.
