Spicy Level 🌶️🌶️/5
So I might be one of the minority but I didn’t really like this and it’s not because she happens to be a serial killer and he is an FBI Agent and I have a morale problem with what she’s doing because she is unaliving people. I love dark and twisted romances about Morally Grey characters and even better when it's the FMC... No, that aspect was the thing that I fucking liked about this book...the rest is the problem.
This book follows Lana, a serial killer who is very very good at torturing and killing people. She's exceptionally clever and has stolen someone else’s identity and in her free time murders people who hurt her in the past. One day she meets this God-awful, sexy, smart, clever man, Logan, who also happens to be a lead FBI agent whose job it is to catch serial killers. Absolute match made in heaven right here that unnoticed by him there is a little cat-and-mouse game that is happening. One where dear old Logan is trying desperately to catch the sick fuck murdering people so is technically hunting for her. Lana and he can't seem to keep apart as they are so sexually attracted to each other and just wanna nail so....yeah that's the story.
What I didn’t really like about this is that it felt too perfect. Obviously, Lana was just not like the other girls being too smart, too clever, too witty, too, pretty, too perfect, too excellent! Just basically too much of ANYTHING and her actions and mannerisms and way of killing just felt fake. It was almost as if every good quality a person could have was thrown somehow into her personality making it unbelievable (even when she wasn't putting up an act for Logan and you were in her head...)
The same thing happened with Logan. All I kept thinking is S.T Abby has probably watched way too many episodes of Criminal Minds and was writing fanfic for Dr Spencer Reid. Him being smart, sexy, and able to deduce conclusions in a matter of seconds and profile a complete and utter stranger over a small conversation at a bar. He was too perfect being this top detective in the FBI but also young and having the body of an adonis but never taking a break from work...
While I know this is fiction and not meant to be realistic, I still want a little grit. A character's personality is meant to develop as you read a story, not already be this perfectly formed idea from page 1.
Ultimately this was not for me. I cannot get that aspect of "CSI, Criminal Minds, Lie to Me" amalgamation of FanFic out of my head, even with the little bit of twist added with the serial killer romance.
The story felt weak and I’ve seen it done better...

I really liked the FMC Lana. She seems like this quiet, reserved woman who doesn't really like anyone, but then you get to know her and she becomes someone else altogether. She's bad@$$, hardcore, but bit of a loner until Agent Logan Bennett. Boy is he hot. Gotta love a man in uniform. Not sure how it's going to work out but it does seem like things are going to end up coming to a head sooner rather than later.
I have to say this author must have had a lot of fun when she got to the ending of book 1. I mean it's one of those nail-biting, "HOLY sh**t, This can't be happening" type of endings.
Stayed tuned for my review of book 2.
