I read Say Yes to the Duke based on a recommendation and they did not steer me wrong. A low angst, lovely, funny story that was a delight to read. It’s a good break for when things start to weigh you down.

Boring and contrived “issue”. Preferred the secondary romance between the vicar and the cat lady.

Step-daughter to the Wilde's and chronically shy, Viola is petrified of her eventual London debut, scared of being labelled as not a Wilde she lurks on the edges of balls, and her nerves cause her to vomit on the shoes of the gentlemen whose feet she tramples over. So it's fortunate when she falls in love with the local Vicar and schemes to meet him after dark in the library.
Devin has all the classic traumas of a neglected only son, his mother dead all these years from consumption of fox glove and a father prone to rage, he's determined to marry correctly and avoid his parents path.
It's a flimsy premise that brings these two together and the book quivers for the first third trying to bring the parts together, it's well towards the end when the expect Wilde madness begins, and the conflict at the end is shaky at best. Still James dialogue is a joy to read as always, and I hold out my firm belief that the oldest son is still somewhere alive in hiding!

I’m so glad the drama wasn’t drawn out and that the hero and heroine are super likable and fun.
A low conflict, very sweet, character-driven Georgian romance that's the literary equivalent of a cozy cup of hot chocolate--a little bit of an indulgence and the perfect thing on a bitterly cold day.
