3.5/4 stars.
Cute. I enjoyed seeing Viola overcoming some of her fears and giving herself permission to feel them but not allowing them to define her. The relationship between her and Devin was predictable but enjoyable. There were some pretty steamy scenes one involving a closet.

Spent the entire book in dreading stupid drama that never came because both parties responded reasonably. I did appreciate that, but it didn’t make the dread less annoying.

Thoroughly enjoyed. Both H/h were good and I like their banter. Glad there wasn't much miscommunication. Will definitely reread

Perhaps this is unkind, but this book seemed to be chasing after the Tessa Dare brand of "wacky pets as character development" + the Julia Quinn brand of "clever dialogue will be enough to make people notice there is absolutely zero plot." There was more genuine conflict in the vicar's road to true love than there was for Viola & her Duke.
However, I did bump it up to 3 stars for the fact that Violet and Devin have some truly hot sex in their happy-conflict-free-marriage.

Eloisa James has created an amazing family in the Wildes. The Duke had not only fathered an amazing number of children with his 3 wives but he also has an adopted son, a daughter who is clearly fathered by his second wife's lover and a step-daughter who came with his 3rd wife at the age of 2.
Even though she has grown up with the Wildes, Viola has never felt like she was really one of them. Now that she is of an age to make her come out she is lacking confidence in herself as a true duke's daughter and as a Wilde.
Devin , Duke of Wynter is looking for a wife. He made a death bed promise to his father to marry a duke's daughter and so he set his sights on Viola's sister Joan (definitely not a Wilde). He has already dismissed Viola because she was only the Duke's stepdaughter. Until he met her. You might say that they clicked immediately but really, it was probably because she was the only one who talked back to him and wasn't impressed by his title.
Viola grows from vomiting, hiding, mouse to a strong confident women when she found that she could speak to Devin and not be afraid. Devin goes from a cold, unloving, uncaring person to a loving husband once Viola teaches him about love and family.
All the Wildes each have their own quirks but, Viola manages to overcome them with the help of a man who sees her for herself. It doesn't matter whether she is a Wilde or not, she is a woman who is loved.
