I just love how overly dramatic JQ’s protagonists are in their pursuit of love. I love Anne and Daniel, and the relationship they form over the course of the book.

This book was definitely more action filled than the first book of the series. I loved the banter between Daniel and Anne. It felt a little like the original Bridgerton book about Benedict and Sophie though...

Daniel never really saw Anne as his equal throughout the book. He wanted one thing from her and that was sex and since she was in the employ of his aunt, he never even considered marriage. Not until the very end when he realised he was in love with her instead of in lust. That kind of grated on me during the whole book. The shift from in lust to in love also felt kind of sudden and out of nowhere (coming from Daniel). I would've rated the book higher if this hadn't been the case.
