5 stars. Nutrition can be a highly individualized subject which makes it overwhelming and confusing for the average person. However, Dr. Greger does a fantastic job of simplifying complex pathophysiology and biochem so the reader can understand why certain foods are so nutritious (or damaging). Fun fact this book took me about 2.5 years to get through. In January of 2023 (when I purchased the book) my goal was to learn how to cook, no small feat, so I felt like learning my way around the kitchen on top of all this information was honestly anxiety producing. However as I’ve done my own research on nutrition, public health, and improved my cooking skills I’ve been able to add recommendations from this book to my diet in a sustainable and fun manner. I will continue to revisit this book throughout my personal and professional practice (loved the way it’s organized) just because there was so much information to take in my first time through.

Exactly what I was looking for. I’ve been convinced to go from mostly vegan to fully vegan. If you aren’t willing to go plant based this may not be for you!

This was a a lot of information but presented in a digestible format.  It look me a long time to get through this book so I wouldn’t say it was fun reading.  However, it was very impactful.  It’s a great start to a new way of life.
