Without a doubt the most poorly written book I have ever read. It’s getting half a star only because they had the guts to actually put this out into the world. They say “show, don’t tell” but this book was 💯 telling. There were minimal adjectives adverbs, or descriptions of any sort. I still don’t know what our MCs look like besides “hot”! The dialogue was lacking and simple sentences abounded. I kept thinking it felt like reading a picture book.

When I was in college, I had to write an essay using the senses to describe a place. For some reason I chose to write a very romanticized version of “London” which ended up being more like a village in the Cotswolds. 🫣🫠 Clearly my essay didn’t come anywhere close to the real thing and my prof’s feedback was that it was obvious I had never been there…. That is what reading this book felt like- as if I was reading a parody of a book, something that someone imagined was how a book is written without having ever experienced one themselves.

Who does not love Christmas in July?

This was the perfect time to read this book. In the blistering heat, I could escape and feel like it was cooler and Christmas time. There were parts of the book that I really liked and parts that I did not.

I was not a fan of Drew from the very begging when Ivy first meet him, something about him felt off.to me. Even though Nick was a jerk in the beginning I was on team Nick the entire time,

I wish that some of the side characters had more of a role. I would have liked to see more of Griffin and his story. To me he really came out of his shell when he was "hiding" at Ivy's parent house.

Overall I would give this a 3.5 stars for a fun and enjoyable read.

Thank you NG and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the early copy.

perfect for hallmark Christmas spirit in the summer

Okay, I loved it. Could totally picture this playing out in my head. Super cute to get so many side character storylines as well and all the “Christmas miracles”. Loved the full circle moments and the filming of the movie as well.

The only thing that I liked about this book is that it’s set in Upstate New York. I got engaged at the Belhurst castle (where the cast stays for the movie shoot) so there is a little nostalgia there.

Other than the setting this book not for me. The POVs were everywhere, literally changing mid paragraph. And the story overall was super cheesy.

The idea is super cute, but the execution was really hard for me to digest. The story reads almost like “stream of conscious” writing. It gave me a headache every time I tried to push through. Our heroine lacks depth, probably due to the pacing. I couldn’t settle in and allow myself to relate. And I am from LA, very familiar with the setting and vibe. I understand the inner workings here, and still felt overwhelmed by the lack of editing and choppiness. I sadly couldn’t finish it. DNF @ 40%.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this eARC in exchange for my review!

“Whoever said love wasn’t authentic? It’s the most real thing there is. But maybe we’ve all become too broken by so many things, that we forget all about love.

I have mixed feelings about this one. The writing was engaging and the book had a promising start but the amount of OW drama started getting on my nerves. I could feel the connection between Nick & Ivy but I felt that neither Nick nor the new guy that Ivy met deserved her. The OW showed up all the time and she really got under my skin to the point that she became intolerable and I did not buy her sudden redemption at the very end at all. Nick was very dense and immature, his actions and the reasons behind them annoyed me. The only reason I'm not rating it lower is because I quite liked Ivy and her relationship with her family. Also the parts where Ivy & Nick reminisced their past in between shooting the scenes were cute. Griffin was my favourite character, at times he left me wishing he was the main love interest instead. To be honest, the amount of drama was just too high and because of that the book did not live up to my expectations.

Thank you Netgalley & Sourcebooks Casablanca for providing me the ARC
