Honestly, this book is really overrated. It took me a month to read it and I can usually finish a book in less than a week but I kept putting it down and not wanting to pick it back up.

The first 50 pages introduce the characters and from there, the plot picks up in spikes. There were about 3 really interesting scenes that moved the plot along but I just felt like I was being told about these medians who have few redeeming qualities and that was it. I've heard people say the characters are morally gray but I honestly think they're just bad people. They're all pretentious and manipulative and I didn't really get attached to any of them.

This book had so much potential. If Olivie Blake could follow the "show don't tell" structure of writing, the characters were better people, and the plot was carried out faster, then I probably would've given it 4 stars. I was just really disappointed after all the hype this book got.

Honestly, all the characters are written to be so special that it’s boring. I don’t really understand the importance behind these abilities if it’s really just something they are born with and have never had to work for. This book feels like a mad-lib of pointless powers.

I found a lot of this book to be unnecessary. A lot of the characters felt flat and their flaws/traits were repeated constantly. Parts of the character interactions dragged on, and I found it quite boring. However, I really enjoyed the ending because we got hear from the side characters who were way more developed then the main six. The ending is the only reason I'm going to try to pick up the next book.
