This was a pretty interesting book. Decent general world building & set up. I enjoyed each character's POV, though it took a few rounds to fully remember the names / abilities etc.
The Nico/Libby rivalry was a bit overdone / aggressive / cliche. Definitely felt it was leading to the rivals to lovers trope, and I was very glad that it didnt't... yet. It definitely made them feel way younger/immature for being college graduates instead of highschoolers.
There was some great development between the 6, and artful narrative with-holding to keep the reader engaged. I was disappointed with the 'dark academia' side. It felt like a huge oversight to not delve into the classes / studies / research further. Any of the studies mentioned felt more like monologues to skim through, and a missed opportunity to start revealing some unique / mystical realities of the Alexandrian library. Hopefully the sequel dives into that more!
As mentioned, there were a lot of internal monologues I skimmed. They felt unnecessary and could've been more succinct with the same result.
All in all - there was a great twist at the end and pretty decent build up. I don't love the 1 chapter where all is revealed, especially since it was supposed to be happening over decades, it feels smushed in, and could've potentially been bread-crumbed more earlier on, but still I was surprised.
I'll definitely read the next book, and hope for more adventure/ mysterious dark academia!

Plot was interesting. Could not stand the characters and they way they interacted with each other.
This book reminds me of THAT tinder profile

Likes: literature, architecture, intelligent conversation and taking you out for dinner.
“Let’s see if this modern experiment called online dating will actually turn into great things or… we can combat capitalism (and my own skepticism) and skip straight to the part where we fall in love”
Pictures will all include posed images of me reading/ drinking black coffee and/or sat next to grand fireplace…plus some sort of group charity function picture beacuse I love the poor really.
In the same way most people would react to this type of thing, this book made me want to bash my own brains out on a wall.

I have to say I’m a little disappointed by the second half of the book which is kind of messy but this was definitely a fun read and I am looking forward to the second book

This book had a great premise that ultimately did not deliver. Dark academia in an interesting fantasy world with mystery, intrigue, and magic sounds like the perfect mixture for me, however The Atlas Six was disappointing in many ways.
At first I was intrigued by all the characters, despite them all being extremely unlikeable. I figured it was the point of the book for the six chosen to be assholes, but I fully expected to either see at least a couple of them change for the better or become complex villains. None of that happened. Each character felt extremely one-dimensional and any desires or character-building they had either changed from chapter to chapter or fell completely flat. None of the characters convinced me that anything important was going on.
Speaking of what was going on, nothing really happened in this book. In the beginning, I was interested in the world that Olivie Blake was building, with different types of magic that was fostered in magical schooling. It was exciting when each initiate was chosen for the mysterious Society where they could compete against each other, and then when they all arrived...nothing happened. Maybe I got the wrong impression from the summary on the cover, but I expected to learn a lot more about the magic in the world as the six initiates learned, but instead I learned about who each person wanted in bed.
Honestly this took a lot for me to finish and it most definitely wasn't for me. I'm the slightest bit interested in what the sequel has to offer, but it will need to be a lot more captivating than this first installment. All in all, I would not recommend The Atlas Six.
