Something terrible is happening in the Happiest Place on Earth, Walt Disney World. The animatronic characters are coming to life at night, all under the command of the evil Maleficent -- and the only ones who can stop them are a group of teenagers. Finn, Charlene, Willa, Maybeck and Philby were chosen to be digital hosts, projected around the Magic Kingdom as holographic guides. Because of this, they can enter Disney World as half-human and half-hologram (through their dreams), and this gives them the power to undertake a quest created by Walt Disney himself in time to save his Kingdom.

The book is a slow starter, but once it gets going, it's full of fun and action. The characters aren't as well developed as they could be, but (a) this is only book one and (b) it's a book designed for junior high schoolers. It's good, but not a book that transcends its Middle Grade beginnings. If you're a big Disney fan you'll probably enjoy it, but if not, you might want to move on to a different book.

It was fun to relive one of my favorite books as a child, but you can tell this is definitely a product of its time (being 15 years ago). I do still appreciate all the secrets about Disney, though.

This book is great. I am looking forward to the rest of the series!

as a Disney fan, I loved this book. It brings a whole new light to Disney World.

I went back and reread this and it was so much less awesome than I remembered it being, which was really disappointing. The characters (in this book) are flat and stereotypical, and even Finn, who we get to know the best, doesn't really have much development. The Disney-awesomeness aspect keeps the book going, but just barely. I'm glad I liked it enough the first time to keep reading, because the sequels are so much better.

First book in the Kingdom Keepers series about a 5 teen team who serve as holographic hosts at Disney World are brought together during their dreams to battle unsavory characters in the amusement park at night. Good, engrossing combination of fantasy and technology themes.
