Tried to get into this, but I never really did. Stopping after 80 pages. I'm sure my 9 and 11 year old boys would like it if they gave it a try.
Bad advertisement for Disney World. Stilted dialogue, lack of suspense. The magical holograms were more believable than the characters or the situations they were in.

This is a really great series for middle grade readers!
Wow. I didn't think you could screw up a book with such a cool idea behind it. The writing is terrible. Even an 8 year old wouldn't want to put up with this garbage. The plot is meh, but really it's the horrific writing that takes the train-wrecked cake.
Bummer.
Bummer.
So, my 13-year-old really enjoyed this. I felt like it was very ordinary middle grade fiction set in Disney World. But it was cute, and an appropriate read for kids, so if they love Disney, they’ll probably like it. My son wants to read the next one, which is a big compliment!

Although I really struggled with Pearson's writing style in this one, the concept of the book is fantastic!
This book was a little hard to get into, too weirdly fast paced, and the kids in the story are just bland and dull. There isn't much depth to the plotline or characters at all, and it just makes me sad because I was so looking forward to this book being awesome with all of the Disney premise and possibilities.
So I sat back and read it from a Disney obssessed elementary schooler's point of view and made it through this book. Decent and fun if you can do it that way, I'll be willing to give the other books in his series a go. Curiostiy and love of Disney compels me.
(I think all Pearson needed to do was collaborate with fellow author, Dave Barry again. They worked together on Peter and the Starcatchers series and I loved those!)

3.5 stars rounded up because of pure Disney and VMK nostalgia.
Gosh, I miss VMK.
