Pretty cute I guess. Some of the pop culture references were fun and clever but a lot were a lil cringe. Idk I mostly read this book as a distraction and it worked fine for that
It's 4 am and I have to be up for work in a few hours but OMG just finished reading a this whole trilogy in the past 48 hours! It was so good and wonderful and a good kind of cheesy and wholesome and ahhhhh!
I'm almost 5 years late to the hype on these books, but Ashley Poston's Once Upon a Con series is fantastic! I normally don't go for modern fairy tales, but this one was too cute and ticked all the rom com boxes for me (and only loosely followed their respective fairy tales, especially after book 1). It's also such a celebration of fandoms, conventions, and wholeheartedly nerdy and genuinely passionate communities. A big part of why I loved it so much is because I miss being in fandoms so much. It had a big fan girl nostalgia factor for me for the days when I was really deep into fandom culture. I haven't had the time or pure love of something in a long time to be in a fandom, and I miss that feeling a lot.
Anyways, these books somehow got better as the series went on— each was better than the last. Would absolutely recommend!

while Beauty & the Beast is my favorite, this one did not hit like books 1 & 2 of the series
I really enjoyed the first two books in this series but this one just HIT IT OUT OF THE PARK FOR ME. I had never read an entire book in one sitting before and i just couldn’t put this book down. I fell in love with rosie and vance but what was so effortless about this book was the representation. From Quinn using they/them pronouns to older bisexual representation it was just so seamless and didn’t feel forced in any way, it was just a part of who they were and not at all their whole story line. Highly recommended for just a fun sweet read that you can whip through.

3.6 stars (which doesn't make sense because im only giving it a 3)
bookish and the beast was not as good as the first two. it had its moments, i thought the beginning at the excelsicon ball was great, the rest felt anticlimactic. and because its a beauty and the beast retelling we basically already know the story so obviously there were no surprises.
to tell the truth, i didnt find rosie as interesting as elle or jess, so many MCs in YA nowadays are automatically bookish so rosie kinda didnt have a personality. vance is better, but his redemption arc wasn't as good as jessica's in [b:The Princess and the Fangirl|39725622|The Princess and the Fangirl (Once Upon a Con, #2)|Ashley Poston|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1542265229l/39725622._SY75_.jpg|61408547].
i dont think any of them said "look to the stars, aim, ignite"? that was kinda disappointing tbh...
