Maybe reading this series back to back was too much for me, because I was pretty burned out on cons and Starfield by this point. Thankfully, the book isn't set at a convention, and Starfield is kind of minor despite the main character loving the show/books/movies and the love interest being an actor in the films. But there was much less Starfield overall. There were a few mentions of the previous characters and some appearances, so it was nice to see what they were up to, but overall, this one felt a bit phoned in for me. I initially thought it was just me reading them too close together, but I think Poston and the editors might have been feeling the same way, because there were so consistency issues that stuck out to me. One in particular was at the end of the book when Vance is worried about tabloids getting their text messages and call histories because he told her "so much--too much." Yet a few chapters before, Rosie told him that she lost her phone, and he said "Huh, so that's why you never asked for my number." So... how did they text and talk and share so much?

J’adore cette trilogie de tout mon cœur, et ce dernier tome la conclut parfaitement. Les personnages sont authentiques et extrêmement attachants, et je ne me lasserai jamais du fandom que l’autrice a créé exprès pour cette saga !

The Once Upon a Con Series does not disappoint.
I'm mostly sad that it's over and that I might have to read other books by Ashley Poston now?
But first: I was a bit hesitant at first about Vance being one of the protags because he was not introduced very favorably in [book:The Princess and the Fangirl|39725622], but then I remember that I felt the same way about Jess in the beginning of that book, and yet I still came to love it.
With this one, it was similar.
Rosie was an immediate hit, and I enjoy that Poston continued the theme of this series' protagonists having been introduced to Starfield by their parents, even if each of them in different ways. Rosie's mother had a big collection of Starfield companion novels, which she and her dad had to sell when she died.
Vance is a rich kid with rich parents and rich friends and a proportionally skewed look on friendships and relationships, and I enjoyed him finding out how to make actual human connection and also wanting to. Also: Him and Mo being friends? Totally unexpected, but I loved it.
I'm struggling to pin-point what exactly I liked about this story, I just did, but Ashley Poston's writing style always hits, the way she writes about the act of being a fan in the different facets this exists, and the process of becoming a fan, it's just written with so much love for fandom as a whole that it makes these books feel so cozy, and then the characters are so real and experience normal teendom, even those that are involved as movie stars.
This series is just one great teen romance book set in a fandom environment slightly based off a fairytale after another.
Will always recommend all three of them!

This didn't keep my interest. The characters are young (high-school age) and correspondingly juvenile. It just felt too forced.
This is a clean romance with no descriptive love scenes.

Trigger warnings: car crash (mentioned) ; death (parental, mentioned) ; grief
A troubled teenage actor banished in a little town lost in nowhere meet a grieving girl who loves books. Well... meet may be a little bit misleading. More like Rosie was penetrating Vance's house, searching for a dog she almost run down, when she discovered a library full of invaluable books. Unfortunately, the house she thought was abandoned is in fact the place where Vance Reigns, the actor personating her favorite character, is spending some times, away from the media. In her attempt to escape what she though to be a psychopath trying to kill her, she ends up destroying a special edition which costs hundreds of dollars. Not able to pay, she'll have to work for the owner of this library, Vance's guardian, rearranging the old library. A dream job for Rosie, incorrigible bookworm, especially since Vance will help her. Or not. And what deception when she discovers what a di** her idol is.
I pretty liked this story! The intrigue was really good, I loved the Beauty and the Beast dimension. However, I didn't really got attached to the characters sadly, and that may have to bee with the writing. Everything went a bit to fast, and I wasn't completely immersed in the story.
But if you are looking for a simple and cute little romance with teenagers, then this one will do the job!
