I wanted to like this, but even though the plot itself was fine, too much of the subplot stories seemed far fetched and forced. Underwhelmed
this is more like a 3.75 and definitely the best in the series. i appreciate that it had a distinct storyline the characters were more lovable and i like ,,,, cringed less? which is important to me in novel consumption. i also feel it was a really good story arch balance. the love interests fought for something while maintaining some similarities and some differences and as a retelling it stayed true to the original al while straying some. some things that keep this from 4 or 5 stars are it definitely referenced songs in beauty and the beast as lines which i wasn’t estatic about, i didn’t like the consideration of smut alongside underage kids, and some things were just unexplained like why did garrett want to go to homecoming with her so bad? but overall best in the series and MUCH better than the last one
Sometimes, books are written for you. Was this book perfect? Of course not! It was so adorable and cute and knew what it was and I loved every second I spent reading it! Special shout out to the Howl's inspired scene, it filled my heart up and made me laugh out loud. ^-^
Just as lighthearted and fun as the rest of the series, though with slightly less emphasis on ExcelsiCon as a setting.
this was really, really cute, and if it didnt have the necessary YA third act bullshit scene with "HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME", i wouldve even considered this, like, a four star, or whatever.
but it was really cute, man. the library? the books?.
while on the spoilery side of things,

i dont think ive ever read another book part of a series like this, where a couple from a previous book split up in a later installment. this was... interesting, and to be honest, i would read the shit out of a series like this. just maybe not YA at this point. im old and grumpy.

I really wasn't into the first book in this series but then I decided to go ahead and give the second one a chance and that one grew on me. This one is adorable and even better than the second one. Plus, the reference to [b:Fangirl|16068905|Fangirl|Rainbow Rowell|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1355886270l/16068905._SX50_.jpg|21861351] was so sweet. And Vance reminds me so much of Baz (sad boy bad boy) and it was impossible not to like him.
This book was SO fun! It's a super cute, short book that I read in one sitting. It's fast paced and keeps you interested. Definitely what I needed to get out of this slump I've been in!
This book was written for the quintessential fangirl, and I could not be happier for it! The author even wrote in the acknowledgements that she wrote this book for herself, and it shows. There were so many great references that I squealed at, from Zuko, to Howl's Moving Castle, to Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell! I also LOVED the fact that they were reading Twilight in their English class, that would totally be something I'd do if I were a teacher. It was so much fun to read and see myself reflected on the pages.
It had so many good tropes that I love dearly. Did that make it predictable, yes, but I can't be bad because it's just a lighthearted, fun read. It's not super deep, and it make me smile so much. I can't wait to read more books in this series!
