I loved this! It was such an entertaining read and I really enjoyed it. I'd only planned to read for twenty minutes or so before bed, but I ended up reading the whole thing in one sitting and not going to sleep until almost 1am! It was sweet, funny and exactly what I was looking for. It's a total comfort read that I can see myself re-reading in the future when I'm looking for something quick and easy to make me smile. I loved the dialogue and interactions between the two MCs and Dayton was so awesome. I really wish we could see more of these two, because I clicked with them straight away.

The only thing that confused me was the set-up. I had been a little confused as to why Dayton even went to check on Hart in the first place and it hadn't felt clear. I know Tawny had told him to, but Dayton knew Hart had been cast out from the pride and also hadn't come across as being all that fond or particularly close to the other man. I know it's picky, but it was just something I questioned when I was reading it. I'd also have perhaps liked to see more about Hart's Liger side. But still, that didn't bother me much and I still adored the whole thing. Love love love, great work Poppy :)

This story was a pleasant way to spend an hour or two. Relatively short, there wasn't a lot of time to get fully immersed in the world of feline shifters.

Hart is a liger (part lion, part tiger) and is huge. His size was a threat to his alpha so he was banished from the pride. He has always known that Dayton was his mate and when Dayton comes to visit, he finally decides the time has come to make him his. Dayton is human but is best friends with Hart's sister and part of the pride.

I liked Hart's deep longing for Dayton but somehow missed what Dayton saw in Hart. When he first visits Hart's apartment, I could see Hart's desire for Dayton ("Oh shit. You are in heat. Fuck my life.") but couldn't feel any great desire reciprocated. Regardless, Hart wins Dayton in the end.

There is confrontation with the alpha and a strange attack by Hart's sister's boyfriend, resulting in Hart and Dayton being separated again - why don't they just talk to each other?!

There is a secondary story line involving Hart's job as an entertainment lawyer. Dayton is a teacher so gets involved in tutoring a rising young band that Hart does the contracts for. This might have given a little more insight into the character of Dayton but I really didn't understand the overall significance of these sections of the story or the additional characters introduced.

A quick read and nice romance as Hart fights for his man. Not much in the way of creating the world of feline shifters but a bit of action and some hot sex.

3.75 stars. Enjoyable fated mates novella.

This was just what I needed to make me smile on a grey, rainy Sunday afternoon. An engaging, easy to read, short but sweet charming novella with a bit of humour.
It is a fated mates story but there’s no insta love here between the two very likeable main characters. Hart, the liger shifter, has to put in some work and actually romance Dayton, the small town history teacher. There’s no over abundance of steamy scenes but what’s there makes the heat level rise.
A few issues crop up to try and derail their HEA but they manage to negotiate them without being too angsty.
I would’ve liked just a bit more background regarding the pride and how Dayton come to be in it.

A bit short and a few loose ends. I also would have wanted some things a bit more fleshed out.
All in all it was a nice way to while away a few hours, but nothing more.

Sister steps in.

Tawny sends Dayton to check on her brother. Hart knows that Dayton is his mate. Let the courtship begin. Ups and downs and rounds and rounds. A great read!

The only thing I could think about while reading this was the “it’s a liger” quote from Napoleon Dynamite

This was cute. It’s intriguing to see how far the author has developed in her writing since she first wrote this. I still enjoyed it but it’s not my favorite by this author.
