4 Stars all the way!

I pulled this out of my TBR last night after reading an emotional read. It was exactly what I needed to clear my head! Thank you, C.J. Ellisson!!

Heather is the kind of girl that goes with the flow when it comes to everything. She has let men walk all over her in both her personal and professional life. On a whim, and as a favor to her best friend, Carla, she attends a speed dating session. She's frustrated and out of her element, doesn't want to be there. Carla urges her to "be someone else".

Tony is a HOT business executive, always in control of everything. He attends the speed dating event with his friend, Marcus. He isn't really looking for anything in particular. When he approaches Heather, his phone rings, and and he realizes he just wants someone else to be in control of his life for once.

The chemistry that these two had instantly was amazing. Their characters were totally believable. You instantly feel a connection to them and to the story, leaving you wanting more. It's rare to find an erotic read where the story carries all the way through...and C.J. Ellisson has done just that.

I will be looking out for the next one in this series. It will be interesting to see which way the author takes it.

This is Book One of C.J. Ellison's new series, 'Walk on the Wild Side.'

Heather is a shy, intelligent woman looking to spice things up when she meets Tony at a speed dating event. She takes the initiative to be more dominant with him and discovers a whole new side of herself.

If you are looking for a fresh new take on the rising trend of erotic, office romance, this book is definitely for you!

Heather Pierce reluctantly agreed to attend her friends speed dating event, but figures it will be a complete waste of time. Heather is more of a behind the scenes type of person who usually keeps more to herself, but the drinks are free right. When Tony Carmine ends up across from her, she figures it will be much like the other men who made mundane conversation and zero chemistry, but she surprises herself when he answers the phone and her inner vixen comes out to play.

Tony has never met a woman quite like Heather before, after an intense brief encounter she is all he can think about. As they begin to explore if there is something between them, Heather finds out who Tony really is a top acquisitions officer. If they can find a way to keep their lives completely personal with no talk of business, it may just all work out but a few twists and turns have a way of falling into their path.

It was wonderful!!..It was fantastic to see a woman taking the leading/dominating role in a sexual relationship..Captivating to watch both characters fall madly in love with each other and how they changed each other..Just fantastic!!

Again I've been met with another story that I wish was a little bit longer, because I really enjoyed the dynamics between the two main characters. But mostly what I think I really enjoyed was how Heather pushed aside her shy nature and took control of a sexual situation, and continued to assert herself. I liked even more that Tony didn't seem intimidated by a strong woman, and although he could be considered an alpha male, he was perfectly fine with relinquishing control. I like to read stories where the two main characters are on equal levels, making a life together as a complementary unit; I don't always like to read about a seemingly "weak" woman being saved by this big alpha male. I like that no one really needed saving in this story at all. They were both successful in their careers, both had lots of money, and both were sexually experienced. They had some issues with trying to figure each other out, but at no point did they react horribly or immaturely to the events surrounding them- and I hope that this author writes more stories like this.

What a sweet and sexy read! I will admit that it started off iffy for me and there were some moments of overkill with the cheesy descriptions of the sex scenes.
SpoilerI like smut - but I don't need an absolute play.by.play and sometimes there's just too many synonyms to describe a guys junk that it becomes a bit much.

This book is written in alternating POV's, which I really love. It gives you an insight into the mind and feelings of both parties.

Heather is an administrative assistant who's spent the last few years doing the work for her alcoholic boss while never getting the respect she deserves. Shy and insecure, she's gone through her entire life never asking for what she wants or fighting for what she deserves, professionally or personally.

Tony is a successful executive who's worked his way to the top of an investment firm. With the reputation of a player, he's lived a life of long work hours and entertaining fleeting women, with no real purpose.

Both of them are coerced into attending a speed-dating event by their friends and it's this one encounter with each other that will set both of their worlds in a tailspin. Heather is determined to be a bolder, sexier woman that gets what she wants - and Tony ends up falling for her hook, line, and sinker. What they discover along the way is a mutual desire for love and acceptance that just strengthens their connection. There are some bumps and misunderstandings along the way - but they are tolerable and add just enough suspense and angst to keep a reader wanting more...wanting to see these two get their happy-ever-after.

I absolutely adored both of these characters. I could relate to Heather because I have my own insecurities that I deal with and I knew how she felt. Her attitude made her so likeable and deserving of love and respect.

And Tony. Ahhhh. He was so fantastic. He knew what Heather needed and he gave it to her. He didn't let her push him away or run. He fought for something he knew was worth fighting for and he was just the sweet, sexy, and sometimes possessive (the club scene...HOT) man we all love in a book like this. He left a big ol smile on my face until the very last page.

I very much enjoyed this smuttastic book and recommend it!

This is an okay romance novel although it does suffer from that common romance novel fault of having the main characters fall in love WAY too quickly, although the relationship status at the end somewhat makes up for that. It jumps back and forth from the heroine's point of view to the hero's but for a full chapter each (with a character heading, saying whose point of view we're on) so it's not too confusing. The author seems a little unsure about the role of dominance in this relationship and so it kind of wavers between one character or the other or neither without making it completely clear why but it's not too bad. The friend characters for both the hero and the heroine are underused and underdeveloped; it would have been nice to have more interactions and conflicts with them. Just okay, not bad but not spectacular.

I have been waiting patiently to read C.J.'s latest release, Vanilla on Top. This is definitely a FAVE for 2013 and I cannot wait to read the next installment.
Discover your inner bad girl, and set her free....hello...is that not catchy? I know after reading this book, I need to set my inner bad girl free more often. =)
"Vanilla on Top" should not be compared to Fifty Shades or even Crossfire. This book is in a league of its own. I had a hard time putting it down and of course my husband kept giving me the weird eyes whenever he would see me reading this from my iPad. He was always asking what I was smiling about...he has no idea. =)
Be prepared to be blown away from the first chapter in the book with a very heated, steamy scene between Heather and Tony.
This book is about Heather Pierce taking control of her life. She is tired of being the good girl and decides to set the bad girl inside of herself finally out. She is new to it, but when she finally gets the courage to set her free, she is about to have some of the wildest times with the one man who she met at a speed dating event, Tony, and he will have a hard time resisting her.
The only thing is Tony is about to change Heather's world once Heather finds out the truth on where he works and what he is up to. He never knew Heather and that his job would end up almost ruining her career.

C.J. Ellisson does an amazing job with writing a book that actually has a female character taking over the dominant role in the bedroom, and without using the tools you would find in a sex shop, but instead every day things that make it romantic.
She even writes a male lead who is able to let the female take over in the bedroom, or whenever, or wherever. Tony definitely needed Heather though since he was used to being in control. She managed to tame the man from his own ways.
She reminds us how women could play the vanilla Dom in a relationship.
Heather had her insecurities at first, but in my own opinion she overcame those insecurities. The best part of Heather is that she used fantasies that she was comfortable doing and she happened to be a romance reader. (And she even referenced she never read Fifty Shades...which she may be a fictional character, but I definitely am one of those readers who has not read it...I'm really trying to now...but it may be my first DNF ever)
C.J.'s writing style is unique compared to other contemporary romance or erotic writers out there, which makes me adore her even more. She does not follow in others footsteps. She takes a different route into the genre.
There is no comparison with Vanilla on Top to other erotic books.
If you are a fan of contemporary romance or erotic genres and want to read a book where the roles are switched, you definitely need to read "Vanilla on Top".
Warning....sex scenes are throughout this book. Who knows maybe you as a woman, will find out you have a inner bad self yourself after reading this book.
I know I must unleash my inner bad girl more often. (It does drive the hubby crazy) =)

I received a complimentary copy of the book for the blog tour in exchange for an honest review. This review is my own personal opinion and I was not paid for it.
