not my fav but it was okay. It was decent for a mandatory read for school.

4.5 stars!

This book was absolutely fantastic. The plot was unexpected and somewhat realistic. My favorite part of this book was the character development. Every character had a chance to demonstrate growth and really give the reader an insight to their thought process and personality.

I highly recommend this book to most people. It was written with older elementary to middle school kids in mind (in my opinion), but I believe that anyone could learn a lot from this story of a little girl who loves plants and to count by 7s.

I think of this more so of a 3.7 out of 5 stars.

Perhaps it was a stylistic choice, but the main character/narrator kept reminding us how much of a genius she was? It was fairly annoying, and it reminds me of how Lele Pons has to keep reminding us that she's hispanic so it sounds like it is untrue (except less as extreme as Ms.
Pons).

We've established that Willow is a whole genius, but sis,,, you ain't gon be able to speak Vietnamese decently within a matter of weeks. Completely farfetched in my opinion as an actual Vietnamese person.

I also really loved how the other characters didn't pity Willow for losing her parents, like, they didn't baby her. I think that really helped Willow grow as a character, and it altered my perspective on life for the better honestly. The world doesn't stop simply because something unfortunate happened to you, y'know?

This book will hold a nice lil spot in my heart ♥

I loved this one. I read it with my 10 year old daughter. I thought it might be above her level at the beginning, but we both ended up really loving it. It made you think and laugh and say and even cry. The imagery is fantastic and it leaves you thinking anytime you put it down. So many quotable lines that will stick with me. Definitely recommend.

So in thinking about where I'd shelve this in our library, I'd have to choose "realistic" despite the excessive quirkiness of the characters. Could this story actually take place? Possibly. Does it read more like a fantastical realm of strange, misfit and weird creatures? Absolutely. While the content is both sweet and sentimental, I am not sure who I could recommend it to other than that group of reading-loving middle school girls who will give anything a try.

That is not to say that I didn't enjoy the story and I fervently hope to meet Willow Chance some day.

You had to suspend disbelief for a few moments but quite frankly if I wanted to read non-fiction then I would!

4.5 I read this so quickly. I don’t even know how to describe this book but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Maybe have even cried a little at the end.
