This is the best book that I have ever read. I laughed while crying. The book was so touching and poignant. Although this is a YA book, I think any adult would find it a worthwhile read.

Though the choppy train-of-thought sentence structure was a little distracting, the story hit me in the heart. Worth the read for middle grades on up to adult.

3.5 stars, rounded up. Listened to on audio.

I did like this book quite a bit. The quirky characters really make this book enjoyable.

Still, looking back there are a few little problems with this book that probably won't bother most, but that leave me wondering. Why wasn't there a funeral for Willow's parents? Why don't we see Willow using any of her coping mechanisms after her parents' deaths? Why is it that the Nuygens can't afford furniture when they live in the garage, but suddenly have money to furnish an entire apartment when they take Willow in? Little things like that.

*4.5 stars* This was such a sad book about a genius girl who was only trying to fit in the world. There were many times I found myself relating to Willow's incapability to connect with people and form strong relationships. The heartbreaking event that happens in this book was so sad but so needed to show Willow's development as a tween. The only thing I didn't appreciate was the fact that Willow got out of going to school for many months due to the tragedy that had happened. Missing a few weeks is understandable, but months? Umm I don't think so lol. However, this book was still amazing and touching. Please pick this up!
