Thanks to Edelweiss and Dial Books for Children for early access to this title.
This is a BEAUTIFUL book! I started crying somewhere around chapter 24, and laugh-cried-laughed pretty much the rest of the book. There are some great laugh out loud moments, but there are some gut-wrenching things as well. Willow Chance is our heroine - an incredibly smart, unusual girl who experiences the worst thing any kid can go through. The people she meets and the events that happens to her - and that she causes to happen - make this one of the best reads I've had for a while. This is one I will definitely own, and will stay with me for a very long time. There isn't a single character that isn't fully fleshed out, but Willow by far captured my heart almost from the beginning. She's a fantastic, very unusual character, and one that I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know. I will be very surprised if this book doesn't get some notice around awards-time. The author deserves the highest praise. Highly Recommended!
(NOTE: I think this book is supposed to be a children's book, but the language and subject I think would make it more young, young adult, or at least a tween book. By language, I mean its more complex than a typical kids book; there is no swearing involved.)

This is one gut punch of a book. I don't mean it is all sad but rather very emotional. Willow is a character that seems out of place even from the beginning of the book. But, she transforms and reveals that she has unbelievable strength. Each character in this book is well crafted and real. I enjoyed this book very much and may have wiped a tear or two whilst reading. It is a very special book about growth. Yes, there is loss but our growth is what defines us. A great addition for any library.
I absolutely LOVED this book and it left me thinking about the characters for weeks after.
My niece bought this book on vacation and I read it in one evening on the beach. This is a great book for teens and an interesting read for anyone. Reminded me of To Kill A Mockingbird.
One of my favorite books of the year! Loved this book! I laughed, I cried, I had an amazing time! Couldn't put it down.
