A rather disappointing ending.

Here's the thing, I can honestly say that I enjoyed this book.
I was so afraid to read it, considering the mixed reviews. It seemed that people either loved it or absolutely hated it. The thing is- I can sympathize why people didn't care for it.

If you don't enjoy history, you're not going to enjoy this book. This novel is packed to the brim with history. I think how incredible the detail and research that had been utilized in these words. It took a decade of research and work. I'm truly impressed with Kostova's attention to history, as well as the places that are featured in the characters' travels. If I didn't have the travel bug by now, I'd say there would be something seriously wrong.

But this book is perfect for my particular audience. Vampire lore, history, genuine love, and companionship, etc.

You may find yourself bored out of your wits, especially if you're not into history.

I read this after reading Bram Stoker's Dracula. This was a long book, but it was very interesting how the author used history to intertwine her story.

This is a really great Dracula story. Using the ever-so-popular convention of multiple related plot lines, one present-day, others at various points in the past, we are invited to ponder the possibility that Dracula was never properly disposed of, and is still living somewhere today. Filled with lots of tension, lots of mysterious characters, and lots of vampires, I thoroughly enjoyed this read from beginning to end.

This would be the ultimate outer edge of "Vash" is is def. pop lit but it is meaty and "serious" the characters are strong and very memorable.

Kind of slow, but I liked the way the story was told. Definitely worth reading if you are interested in history.

One of the best and most frightening book I have read!

This book was amazing. I could not put it down. The descriptions of the places and people were so good that you cannot help but believe they are real. I know what every place and every person looks like in my mind. It is so well written that it is hard to believe that this is fiction. If you like having history converge with imagination you will enjoy this book.
