I liked it, Toddler did not, and he would not elaborate why.

I’m not sure why they didn’t just ask the bear his name, but maybe in Darkest Peru they don’t have names.

I LOVE PADDINGTON WITH ALL MY HEART.
But I did not realise that this $4.99 edition that I bought from Aldi today was an abridged version of the first book in the series, so now I'm a lil disappointed, but this is still cute as shit so.

I grew up with Peggy Fortnum's illustrations, but I love R.W. Alley's illustrations too and it's so nice to have Paddington illustrated in such lovely colour pictures. Alley's Paddington is similar enough to Peggy Fortnum's to feel familiar, but is a more realised, less sketchy, Paddington.
I don't have the original text on hand to compare it with this revised text, but it didn't feel too different to me. The one thing I spotted that I guessed might be a change is the 'snack bar' (formerly a tea room?).
This was bought (by my mother) for my nieces birthday present, and I read it before wrapping it up. I have to say, I want a set of these Paddington picture books for myself now!
