this was my second time reading it for class but it is always an excellent and incredibly affecting read. i have a rule about not rating autobiographies or biographies but if i were to rate this it would be 5 stars for sure.

Not gonna give a star rating to thee Mr. Frederick Douglass. It goes without saying that his writing is remarkable, affecting, and powerful in all times.

Incredibly emotional narrative and memoir for both the reader and the author. A devastating read that only skims the surface of the history of American slavery.

It's not the kind of book you can say you enjoyed reading, but it gives a glimpse into America's dark past, something we should probably look at on occasion so we don't go back to those times.
