Cute, fast paced, and the most rom com book ever. Full of tropes and very spicy scenes.

This book is hard to rate. At first this book was hard to get into. The problem was that I was annoyed by Alfie. The banter was a bit funny but also felt forced. It had some funny moments, but the characters felt flet. This book could have been much better.

Thank you Netgalley for an arc in exchange of my honest opinion!

Rating: 4.35 Stars

I really enjoyed this grumpy/sunshine story, even more so because it had a curvy FMC who I resonated with quite a bit. It was so cute and the perfect palette cleanser for me. I will definitely be reading more books from Charlotte Stein. Now a huge fan of their writing!

This story was adorable, charming, lovable and quirky. Where I struggled with this book was the writing style at times it was challenging to follow the writing. It felt overly complex writing for a light rom com, it’s clear the author is a talented writer but I think maybe she should have matched the writing style to the story type a little more. These characters were awkward and flawed and I loved them for that.

if i’d read this in print or as an ebook, my rating probably wouldn’t be this high, but the audiobook narrator really takes this story to another level. it felt like i was listening to a podcast, which i LOVED

I was so excited to read this and I went in with high hopes. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy this book.

I was expecting a grumpy MMC and I feel like we didn’t get that. Like he was slightly grumpy or gave off the vibe he was but he talked a lot especially in the beginning. (I thought grumpy characters were supposed to keep to themselves a lot for a good amount of the book?)
Of course, Mabel definitely exuded sunshine vibes.

There was also way too much banter, which I now know is a thing. I love some good banter as much as the next person, but I feel like there was too much in this.

Basically, it did not meet my expectations or exceed them.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Sweet and fun, the trigger warnings from the author were immensely helpful, and it’s so lovely to see a lived experience handled with such care.
