Interesting history of the Sackler family and their role in fuelling the opioid crisis in America and beyond. Their barefaced denials and ruthless profiteering are scandalous, but sadly not surprising. How sad that regulators failed us. So many people lack integrity when faced with indecent amounts of money.

Incredibly well-written. I read this voraciously and consulted the dictionary many a time. Working in the addiction space, I knew a fair amount about the opioid crisis, but had no real knowledge of the family behind it nor the epic saga that brought them to becoming one of the richest families in America. This is one of those non-fiction books you can’t help but devour because it is written so well. Eye-opening and infuriating.

A must-read. One jaw-dropping revelation after the other. The audiobook is narrated by the author and he does a great job.

I had to tell everyone I ran into about this book. I’ve watched some movies about the Sackler family but, this book still had me gasping. Shocked! *Shivers* Great read! Amazing reporting by Patrick Radden Keefe.

Patrick Radden Keefe at his absolute finest. This was an 18 hour audiobook and I finished it in under 2 weeks. The fact that he managed to work a couple motifs (like the ghost marks) into narrative nonfiction is just the coolest. Keefe's writing style is so intensely readable.
I didn't realise before starting that he did the audiobook narration, and boy does he have the cadence for it. The slightly sarcastic/amused tone when he discusses Joss Sackler just sent me. Do I have a crush on PRK?
