Eeeeek...3 or 3.5 (which I round to a 4). No, I can't say this one is a 4 for Mitch Albom. I loved the concept of this book but I found it rushed. This took away from the story as we could not get to know the characters well enough to feel for them. I did feel for the MC (Dor) as he has more of a back story. More time was spent on his life. Yes it was similar to other books by the author, but sometimes we need to look at a story and determine that perhaps we should adjust the style. This is a good story and I would suggest reading it, but keep in mind you will need to get attached the the characters quicker than normal.
Fav Quote: "You have a schedule, a calendar, a time for dinner or a movie. Yet all around you, timekeeping is ignored. Birds are not late. A dog does not check its watch. Deer do not fret over passing birthdays. man alone measures time. Man alone chimes the hour."

Rating: 4 Stars

Review: The Time Keeper could have delved deeper into the issues it brushed on, but I liked it all the same as a light read. I liked the conciseness of the writing style; the formatting of bold words, folklorish lines and biblical backstories immediately drew me in. While there’s an interesting plotline with Victor (an aging billionaire who is looking into cryogenics), the storyline of Sarah falls rather flat. Lovestruck Sarah, who falls apart after being struck down by a mean crush, definitely misrepresented teenagers. Written to be an intelligent outcast, Sarah could have been much more gripping – so much more room for character development… Personally, I might have liked more of a focus on Father Time and his simple life story and the biblical elements. Overall, The Time Keeper has a great message. Why does time exist and why can’t we live forever? So that we are human. So that we feel. So that we treasure the moments.

I really enjoyed this book. Surprisingly, this is my first Mitch Albom book and I now understand his appeal. I liked the moral to the story and thought it sent a good message. More importantly, I loved hearing this story on audio! Dan Stevens has the perfect voice for audiobooks. I will admit that I had to suspend my disbelief during several parts of the story. Really, Victor? You're really going to cryogenically freeze yourself? Really, Sarah? You like this boy so much you're going to spend your life savings on a present for him? Some of it seemed pretty far-fetched, but I was willing to look past it in most cases. I would probably give this book a 3.75 star rating.

Meh. Definitely my least favorite of Albom's that I've read.

Mitch Albom couldn't write a bad book if he tried. This was engaging and had nice life lessons.
That said, I felt like his other books came from his heart, and this one was more of a creative experiment.
Definitely worth the read, but didn't wow me like he ususally does.
