I honestly bought this book for the cover because it is just so pretty but I instantly fell in love with the characters.

Elle and Sin brought so much to the scandal of the storyline and they were more than just this dirty little secret that they were keeping. They both had secrets but even with the age gap, this didn't mean Elle reverted to showing her age and acting like a child. From the start, there seemed to be some form of trust between these two, which is hard to explain but they both connected with each other on a level that meant they needed to at least test the waters.

I loved Elle, she was very sophisticated and passionate about her job. The fact that she also grew in confidence throughout the story made me fall more in love with her and Sin helped encourage that. They bounced off each other and saw themselves as equals, even when Sin sometimes tried to place Elle in a box like the other woman in his life. Elle just wasn't having any of it. I am craving the next book because I want to know where it all leads.

This is a series full of a whirlwind of emotions. Elle and Sin are supposed to be together and as a reader, you can feel that in the small touches that they share, their conversations and even the hurdles that they face together. They both grow throughout the series and they need to be able to because they've gotten themselves into one hell of a mess. They quickly learn that to survive it they need to admit their feelings to each other no matter what the costs and figure it out together. There's always a light at the end of the tunnel even if it's just a pinprick in the distance. If you don't fall in love with these characters then your reading it wrong and you need to start again. Have an open mind and remember that everything happens for a reason.

I'm teetering between 3-4 stars here.

For some the cheating may be their biggest issue and if that's the case why are you reading a book that clearly puts that out there?

My problem was more with the MC. Giselle. Elle. Gigi. What ever you call her. I just didn't get her. She's 24. Has twin younger siblings who seem more mature than her. She has another sister we never get the name of well, you know, she hints at all this family drama but we get nothing. I realize it's setting up the series but it's like watching a tv show that never a gives you any answers or when you think it does the it says "just kidding" that's all a lie. I just found her to be closer to 16-18 than 24. Especially if she's been in Paris for years.

That said, the sex scenes are hot. The connection between Elle and Sinclair is hot although I have to say I didn't like him for the first few chapters. He came off cold to me but I kind of warmed up to him.

I don't know. I have to check out the next book. I guess that's always a positive review.

This is the first book with a cheating trope that I've read and I'm not sure if I like it or not. I think the circumstances of their affair were the ones that made me finish this book *and later this series* even though that's not a really good excuse:)

Overall I enjoyed the way their forbidden romance, but I would have liked to find out more about Giselle's past given the fact that it made her the way she is.

Giselle is a lovely character and I liked her. I still don't know exactly what to think about Sinclair.

I quite wished I would have felt more chemistry between them. And more communication, even though it was suppose to be an affair.

Some things were quite predictable, but I was okay with it. It was a chill read, a fast one, but I don't regret reading it

A solid start to the trilogy.

In case it's not obvious from the title and the summary, this is about a woman, Giselle, who meets a man, Sinclair, while she's heading to a resort for a week of relaxation before she sees her family after 5-ish years. This man isn't unattached. He has a girlfriend back home and Elle knows this, shortly after meeting him.

Wasn't sure how I'd like this. On the one hand it's Giana Darling, who wrote my favorite book of the year, last year ([b:Welcome to the Dark Side|37706203|Welcome to the Dark Side (The Fallen Men, #2)|Giana Darling|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1522445376s/37706203.jpg|59337897]), and also wrote the Fallen Men Series that I binged read in one-two weeks, which i haven't done for a new series in soooooo long. However I'm not into cheating, so I wasn't sure how I would take this.

So far, I'm ok with it. The line for me is apparently, does he cheat on the heroine, no. But does he cheat on his girlfriend, yes, absolutely but since I haven't met the girlfriend yet, I guess...I don't care. Maybe in the next book, where I'm sure the girlfriend will be in the picture, I'll care more but for this one I didn't. As long as he didn't cheat on Elle I was fine with it.

However, I'm pretty sure the girlfriend is,
SpoilerGiselle's sister. There were quite a few things that point to that. I haven't read book 2's summary yet but I'm fairly certain this will be the case. Which will just make Giselle's relationship with Elena a little more strained than it already is.

This is going to be a bit of a weird complaint but I kind of wanted a cliffhanger. I'm one of those readers that don't mind a cliffhanger sometimes. Especially when it prompts me to pick that next book up immediately. I know I will pick up the next book, I'm just not in a hurry to get to it right now.

Overall this was great. I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes.

The Affair was an ok read for me. I didn’t much care for the hero or heroine especially the hero because he was an ass. He had his moments where he was sweet but then he almost immediately reverted to his default setting of asshole. I’m not sure if I’ll read the rest of their story.

Giselle is the other woman that Sinclair falls for. OMG! I love her innocence and strength as she learns to love who she is becoming. The hot sexy scenes were so yummy! I can't wait for the next book to learn about all the twists and turns they will take. I want my own Frenchman!
