"We came here sometimes. Just the two of us. And you would pretend to know all the stars. You would make up stories that absolutely weren’t true, and I remember looking at you, thinking how wonderful it was to be by your side. And if we were lucky, there’d be—ah. Look. Again.” His voice was wet and soft, and it cracked me right down the middle.

Fireflies rose around us, pulsing slowly. At first there were only two or three, but then more began to hang heavy in the air. They were yellow-green, and I wondered how this could be real. Here. Now. This moment. How I ever could have forgotten this.

Forgotten him."

THIS BOOK. RIPPED MY HEART OUT. STOMPED ALL OVER IT. THEN LOVINGLY GAVE IT A LITTLE SPA DAY AND PUT IT BACK IN MY CHEST. Then punched me in the face right at the last second because of course, plot set up for the next book.

This series is absolutely cemented as one of my all time favorites. These characters and their journeys are just so beautiful and tragic and wholesome and I just want to cuddle with them all.

This book was Robbie's story and I think the way it's told was genius and heartbreaking and tense and terrifying and so sweet. I think it may actually be my favorite so far. TJ Klune you emotional sorcerer, you.

Heartsong, the third book in the Green Creek series, focuses on Robbie. Robbie played a semi-important role in the first book, but was kept at a bare minimum in the second book. This time around, we get to see the world from his perspective. Fortunately, the story starts off in a way that's a bit mysterious in terms of exactly when it is taking place, which already helps build some of the tension right off from the start. After a few revelations, the book mainly spends all its time in Green Creek with Robbie and the rest of the Bennett pack and his relationship with them. A few plot relevant events are interspersed throughout the story, much like the previous books in the series.

Not much really happens plot-wise. Well, I guess a lot does happen, but because these plot heavy action sequences are so dense in only certain parts of the book, it really feels like nothing happens. And if you're looking for an equal distribution, then you're gonna think that the pacing is all off. But if instead you're looking for a lot of great character and emotional growth and development, this book will definitely give that to you. Personally, I would have liked a better and tighter paced book, but I can't complain with what I was already given in this third instance.

If you've already read the first two books, this one will keep you tethered to the world of Green Creek even longer.

the writing style and the way klune tells this story is so incredible and unique. i was wondering how a third book of the same story wouldn’t get old but it was executed perfectly and exceeded my expectations
