This was my first time reading a short story collection and I honestly liked it more than I thought I would. It felt like urban legends passed around a high school, "did you hear of the kids who came back? Or Our Lady of the Quarry?" There were a few I wasn't a fan of, I felt they were too brash and coarse but that was the point of those stories so I won't fault them for that. I usually listen to audiobooks and rarely buy physical copies anymore but this is one that I have to own so I can reread my favorites and make annotations.

Enriquez manages to build tension in each of these stories and leaves you with a knot in your stomach after finishing this book.

Los relatos que más me gustaron: El carrito, El aljibe y Carne. La verdad es que disfruté mucho más el otro libro de cuentos de Enríquez, Las cosas que perdimos en el fuego. Este me pareció menos trabajado, algunos de los relatos se me hicieron muy reiterativos entre sí, y en ciertos casos me pareció un poco insensible el modo en el que la autora abordó determinados temas, como por el ejemplo en Cuando hablábamos con los muertos. 

Creo que su obra posterior tienen un poco más de originalidad y madurez. Me gusta Mariana Enríquez, siempre siento interés por lo que hace, pero no me enloquece tanto como a otros lectores que son fanáticos totales.
