An aggressively feminist book with great examples of persistence and invention. I like seeking out diverse books; this one was a bit...pointed, for me, but I'm not the target audience and especially for young kids with less exposure to feminism I think this would be great.

The book itself gets 4-5 stars as an early chapter book, the audiobook pulls it down for us. We did not enjoy the music and sound effects throughout, though some might.

Wonderful! A great transition from the picture book to a chapter book format, with all the same magic intact. I loved the way the process of engineering (prototypes, failures, and tinkering) and information on rivets and valves were integrated into the story. David Roberts’ illustrations were spectacular as usual, with some little details (buttons, poster in Rosie’s room) that were perfect. And bravo to Andrea Beaty for including such a wonderful, diverse group of older ladies as characters (an age group not well represented in children’s books, other than grandmas) - loved the little bit at the end about asking older folks in your community about their lifetimes of stories.

Rosie loves to tinker and be a problem-solver. When the perfect opportunity arises to help one of her aunt’s friends, all of Rosie’s talents are put to the test. Can she invent the perfect contraption or will the repeated failures prevent her from seeing the goal through?

As a mom and teacher, I have read the picture books from this series over and over again. I stumbled upon this chapter book, the first in the series, this summer and loved it! Each chapter begins with a sketch that has humor and often introduces a few terms which will be in the chapter. I love the way the reader listens to all of the thoughts Rosie has, including the ones where she doubts herself. I cannot recommend this book enough for your readers.

We love Rosie & the Questioneers! It was fun to get to know some of our favorite characters a little bit better, and a sweet story about community & not giving up. Dylan sat with me for almost this entire book which is a 4 year old miracle.
