Do I wish RJ had been able to finish the series? Yes.
Is Brando Sando's OC tediously overpresent and overshadowing Logain and Narishma? Yes.
Are some of the characters still just not "right," like Mat? Yes.
Is Perrin's plotline weird, and alsomostly pointless, given that he's being lead around by the nose? Yes.
Is it still a satisfying end to my favorite series of all time and probably the best anyone but RJ himself could have done? Yes.
C'mon, if you read 13+ books to get here, you're gonna read this one, and it's gonna be non-stop action for 900 pages.

And so it ends - a mediocre novel to a largely unpleasant series.
This isn't Sanderson's fault, mind. He came on late and his job was primarily respecting Jordan's legacy, notes, and intentions. The biggest problem with this final book is that it's basically a 900 page war scene. I imagine that some readers have craved this, but I just don't like war scenes that much. I find them less interesting than almost any other kind of scene. There's even a single 200+ page chapter near the end that goes into the depths of the battle.
The novel offers many surprises. Lots of main characters die. Lots of people die you probably wouldn't expect, though I found the effect of them dying to be underwhelming. Possibly it's just overall fatigue about the series, but I didn't really care that much at them dying. I think it taught me how little I connected with any of the characters in the series.
It's why it's often felt like a chore rather than an enjoyable experience.
I have many more thoughts, and so I may add to this review later, but, overall, the series is not very good. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. And if you are foolish enough to start this series, give up after the first handful of books.
Or, if you must read this, listen to the audiobooks. They're done quite well, and they make this awful experience much better.

I think that was a fitting end to the series. Even though I've had some issues with the series as a whole, I'm very sad that we'll no longer get any new stories in this world. It has been a part of my life for such a long time.

Rereading this reminded me that this was a sufficient ending to this epic story but I expected more. Mainly my favorite characters seemed one dimensional. I understand Brandon Sanderson tried to finish a story with characters not truly his but the tone, humor, and essence of each was wrong. Still a wonderful epic and it leaves me with so many questions of what happens next.
