I felt this anthology about the ravaging of Pompeii very interesting, and, while it was an anthology, the short stories weaved together well. The writing styles were similar enough to flow into one another without being taken out of the broader story. 

I was engaged with each story and, although this won't be a top read for me this year, it was stronger than I expected.
