ANOTHER OBSESSION ADDED TO MY LIST OMFG THIS WAS SO GOOD
I just got off uni and into vacation and THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED. Such a fast paced, kicking your feet and giggling kind of book and I loved it. The characters, the tropes, the sprinkles of reality and academic achievement and the price within being the best. What it means to be a LITERAL kid still and be able to simply BE. Now I will proceed with writing down some of my favorite quotes:

“He laughs, and the sound is like bottled magic. Like birdsong…”

“Descartes was wrong, you know, when he said ‘to live well you must live unseen.’ To live well, you must learn to see yourself first…”

“Even if it doesn’t feel that way now, your still only a kid”

“Because this isn’t a marvel movie. It’s not about good versus evil- it’s just about survival. And even if it were, I’d rather be the villain who lives to the end then the hero who winds up dead.”

“I didn’t know you had such a praise kink.”

“But honestly? I also want to be happy. To invest in something meaningful and fulfilling, even if it is difficult, and maybe not the most practical option in the world.”

Also can’t leave out this from the acknowledgments:

“Thank you Taylor Swift for existing.”

THE BANTER AND HUMOR IS ALSO GREAT JUSY GO READ THE BOOK AND STAN ALICE, HENRY AND CHANEL

I have never been excited about a high school book since well, high school. If You Could See the Sun was fun, lighthearted, and I was smiling and kicking my feet because of Alice and Henry. Rivals to lovers? More like idiots to lovers. They're so cute. Also, I might have cried as I saw myself in Alice. I didn't go to a fancy international school, but I used to feel pressured to be perfect, and I'm slowly trying to unlearn that in adulthood. So reading Alice go through a similar thing was cathartic.
