This book was terrifying. As in it was set in a world very similar to our current climate. An eye-opening experience for sure.

I could not finish this book, and not for lack of trying. I was really hoping the wizard and the prophet were actually magical 😆. It was too pessimistic for me. It goes off on too many tangents about too many topics while trying to convey connections between them. A bit of a mindf*k and not an enjoyable read for me at all.

At times beautiful, yet many more times tragic, its pessimism leaks off every page. Perhaps a bit too on the nose about current events which are still unfolding.

I don’t think I could explain to someone what this was about in under 10 minutes. Some parts were good and I was really hooked on the movie-esque imagery from time to time, but overall I’m not a huge fan. The plot was all over the place, the political commentary was distracting at best, and I got an air of pretentious superiority coming from the pages. Probably the most polarizing book I have ever read. Actually, to clarify, if a book could have bipolar disorder, this would be it.
