Engaging writing, stacked with an amazing amount of credible evidence backing just about every word. Everyone should read this, it's as simple as that.

Australian set domestic violence book that investigates the landscape of domestic abuse in the Australian context. Uses key cases and lived experience to inform, and demonstrates key concepts well. A must-read, and a first at illustrating dv in a digestible way for audiences in Australia specifically. Breaks down stereotypes and common misconceptions about domestic and family violence.

An incredible read, with powerful insights into domestic abuse, the justice system, family violence and patriarchal entitlement. Well researched, comprehensive, challenging and hopeful, this book is a must read for all.

Very challenging topic and content, but also very important to try to understand and to find a way as a society to recognise domestic abuse, provide adequate resources and support for people affected by domestic abuse, and to learn from the case studies where rates of domestic abuse were significantly decreased following community-led actions.

Descriptions of abuse too difficult to continue reading at this time. Very well written book on subject matter though.

One of the best I've read but I wish books like this would use fewer and less graphic descriptions of abuse. Why Does He Do That? gives the most accurate description of living day to day with an abuser that other books forget, including See What You Made Me Do. However, this book looks at solutions more holistically and longterm than anything else I've seen. She chose to focus on exceptions of policing, but left out the 40% figure known of officers despite so much of the book citing the US.

It feels wrong to rate this book because of the deeply personal and heartbreaking stories it contains. This book was devastating but told with sensitivity and hope. A must read for everyone.
