Super fast paced and generally liked it. The twist of who is mainly responsible was a lil surprising but another part was a lil predictable. I didn't LOVE the end/epilogue but I didn't hate it either.
Would've liked a little expansion on Lilliard and whatever his deal was
(like why he was pretty chill with Ms. Keane and why he hated the camp. How much did he know/not know)

I feel like the magic being introduced in the last third wasn't executed well

i read this to check its suitability for the 12 yo readers who "want horror". (Short answer - no). BUT I loved it and was completely hooked.  As someone who only came to horror in my 50s, I am fairly unaware of the tropes employed by slasher films, referenced in this book.  So much fun, with a really great twist at the end.  The supernatural element was great too.  Can't wait to put this in the hands of the right 15yo.

So good, I cared so much about all of the characters and what happened to them. The twists were so good, and writing made it so suspenseful. I could not stop reading it and now I want more. The ending was incredible, better than I could have imagined when I started reading it.

I almost DNF’d this book TWICE. Because unfortunately this was a weak story even though it has really solid potential… I knew it would be “campy” but I feel like there was something missing in the dialogue- like the words were falling flat, and things were still unexplained by the end of the book. Additionally, there was a lack of character background and development which made it hard to get invested. I hardly remembered who was who in the friend group, and the descriptions were SPARSE.
the weird ass “owl” Group by elitist white people, was never explained in depth, and we don’t know who started the group, or why. It was trying to copy something like the Illuminati but the author rushed the end, and left chunks of the story out. I like that Charity in the end gets resurrected by her girlfriend who was the only survivor, but there was still so much that could’ve been added and less stuff in the beginning.
Last thing to mention …I’m not a fan of a rushed ending, but at least this was a quick enough read. LOL
