The sapphic slasher summer camp horror vibes were all so much fun & very Fear Street meets Friday the 13th & I enjoyed all of the horror references/vibes, but around like 60-70% mark this book takes some pretty antisemitic turns with how it represents blood libel/secret societies etc. I don’t really know what to make of this in the end because it was a really good time until the antisemitism came out of nowhere. I read through some other reviews from Jewish readers, & it does look like there’s a common feeling that it doesn’t seem like it intentionally is hateful, however more so speaks to how deeply ingrained antisemitism is within our society and how easy it is to accidentally use caricatures/tropes. I would be curious to know if the author has ever acknowledged this?

A quick slasher thriller that keeps you on your toes till the very end!!

Loved the twists and turns of this one and that is was so quick, yet still packed a punch.

My issue with this one is it did have some underlying antisemitism symbolism. I do not think this was done intentionally or with malice from the author. But do read this book with care.

There were a couple of fun creepy moments around the halfway mark, but otherwise this was just bad. The escape room camp theme is abandoned after only one round and seems to only exist to make sure there are no kids at the summer camp. The characters are really bland - I kept forgetting Paige even existed until other people brought her up - and the 'plot twist' was goofy and borderline offensive.

Unfortunately the biggest sin to me in a slasher, aside from maybe the first two the kills were boring. A good slasher should be about over the top people being killed in over the top ways and this was just like "oh he's dead I guess".

An overall good read let down by a rushed ending.

I am concerned about parallels to antisemitic conspiracy theories (blood libel) in the direction the plot takes later on.
