Thanks to the Kidlit Exchange network for the review copy. All opinions are my own.

What a fun concept for a nonfiction picture book. The author found insects with the silliest names (water boatmen, robber flies, booklice, and the title's doodlebugs) and investigates whether they do what their name implies.

No, water boatmen don't wear life jackets. Robber flies don't hold up banks. But you might be surprised what doodlebugs do!

This book is short - 36 pages, but it's filled with tons of fun facts about bugs. I was really surprised while reading the book on how very different insects can be.

This book is definitely a great read for parents, teachers, adults in general. It was an easy read, easy to comprehend, but wasn't boring or too juvenile. Loved the illustrations - the whimsy pictures made the book!
