3 to 3.5 stars. The first part of the book was fast paced and page turning fun. Once the investigation started, it slowed down. I was much less interested the two police officers. There is also a side story, that I didn't think was all that important. It seems like this book was sequel to her first. I almost felt there might have been a few spoilers.

I love a good thriller with a twist and this was recommended as a twisty, turny tale, but I found the twists in this to be obvious from early on, and the book just became a lurch to get to the end to see if I was right. There was a decent amount of side characters with subplots and that, and the jumping between PoVs and past and present, made following the audiobook a bit of a chore. I felt I spent a lot of effort in putting my attention in this book, waiting to be wowed by it, but it wasn't as rewarding as I wanted it to be.
My rating is so high because I still feel it was well written and would recommend this book to thriller readers.

This is a twisty tale of marriage and Matt Evans' unluckiness in love.
When police begin investigating the accident that claims Marie Evans' life, police discover that Matt was married before to Janice. She also died (murdered) but he didn't pass that info along when police started asking questions. It wasn't relevant, he says.
As the book unfolds, we find out there are deep secrets, and they don't all belong to Matt.
Told in switching narratives between Matt, Janice, Marie, and the two investigating officers this was a page turning romp.
Perfect for fans of the book Gone Girl (including a reference to the book in the text)

I couldn't put it down. While I'm sure it's being compared to Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train and all those I think it's much better than any of them.

This had a really interesting premise and most of the book was intriguing enough, but in the end I just felt like it dragged on a little bit.

Can we start a movement to add 1/2 stars to Goodreads? IMO As Long As... was more than "it was okay" (2 stars), but I hesitated to say "I liked it" (3 stars). For me, 2.5 would be "I wanted to like it, but..." [fill in the blank]. In this case, I wanted to like As Long As..., but I was so frustrated by the lack of character development.

I found many of the characters potentially compelling, but I felt like I didn't know them at all. I could describe them, but I had no idea of who they really were ... actually, it felt like the author didn't know who they were. If anyone should know them, it's the author.

I wish I could describe this better, but I feel like an author is/should be an advocate for her characters. And being is an advocate is helping the reader understand the motivations of the character (even if they are bad motivations).

I think the plot twists and turns were interesting and surprising (and I love being surprised, hence the extra 1/2 star). I wonder if As Long As... could be a better movie than book. Sometimes a terrific actor can develop a backstory for her character and infuse her performance with that backstory.

So, read As Long As... for the twists and turns. They didn't disappoint.

(PS Did I miss the reason why one of the main characters -- a tough as nails, not always by the book, completely unlikable detective -- is named Ralph Loren? As in the ur-preppy fashion designer Ralph Lauren? It was kind of jarring, and I kept expecting some explanation in the story.)

Once the book got going it veered off on a tangent about the detectives who are investigating events that occurred in the first 100 pages of the book. The story was not getting back on track and wouldn't hold my attention. I hate to quit books but this one wasn't doing it for me.

Too many disconnected story lines.

I liked this a lot! Super twisty. Saw 98% coming but was still surprised by that 2%, and also still happy to be along for the ride.

Omg what a book. Let me tell you, I am stingy with my 5 stars and didnt even think of giving this one 5, maybe 4 or 4.5. But then I thought of all the damn plot twists that came with the book and I reconsidered. Wow this book was something else. I almost gave up in the beginning, probably until about halfway through. And then things started happening. To begin with, I had a feeling that janice didnt die because they never mentioned the woman in the bed. But I never thought she was marie! That was huge. And then the dead body not being marie (janice)! Again! Amazing. But the best parts come in the last 10 pages or so. What a book. So glad I stumbled upon this one and didnt give up.

This was a tad too dramatic for me and every single character is over the top and unlikeable. That said, I kept reading and wanting to see what would happen. If you like domestic thrillers give it a chance
