Are you absolutely, all the way kidding me. That was amazing. I am freakin speechless right now. I can’t even think right now. My brain is everywhere and nowhere all at once. Am I real? Is this book real? Is this author for freaking real?! What!! Incredible.

So much happens, I almost wish it was two books or maybe a book and a novella… still enjoyed it a lot. But definitely felt the 6 month release gap. Still really enjoyed it though!

This follow-up to "Fourth Wing" did not disappoint. It continued with non-stop action, twists and turns, and romance to make for terrific storytelling. It'll be hard to wait another year for the next book.

I can see why a lot of people would rate this 5 stars. I give 3.5 because I hate war and this was very heavy on the action. But it’s about a war college and it was expected.

Also I was recovering from surgery when I started the book and there was a ton of emphasis on detailed injuries
for the torture-heal-torture cycle that
and I had to take a break from reading for a few weeks. Probably would have rated it higher if I wasn’t! Probably the worst part of this book!

First book was better but I hated this ending. I’m so mad but overall enjoyed the journey. Will still read the third book!

Oh My Goodness!!!!! I knew it was going to be good, but I didn’t think it was going to be this good. Multiple times I had to put the book down to get a grip on myself, before I continued. It was action packed, not a page of this book was extraneous. I can’t say enough good things, highly recommend.

What a war! All the action and fighting and planning. I like how Yarros utilizes the dragons more in this book, especially Andarna (more frequent remarks that I found so funny and at the end). I don't see the romance as wanting to replicate the first book. I see it more as a romantic relationship that goes through tests of trusts. I do find it annoying and a bit controlling when Xaden expects Violet to ask him the correct questions in order for him to offer her the information she wants. And some of her remarks about Xaden became repetitive (though this may also be a me-thing, as I find too much mushy-gushy stuff in romance novels to be overbearing and annoying).

What. Even. I have to wait until DECEMBER? I really can’t. The ending of this book is such a cliffhanger and a twist I was not anticipating. I enjoyed this book, but felt some of it could’ve been condensed. I also felt that some of the magic wasn’t explained as well as I would’ve liked, but all in all, this was a good part 2. The characters are embedded in my heart now, and I hope they all have a happy ending.
