I've been finding it harder and harder to get through volumes of Bombshells. The stories are so dense with seemingly unnecessary text, and they shift location and character so frequently, that I find it really difficult to know what is meant to be going on any more. I still love the queerness and range of characters, but by adding more to the mix each time it lacks a solid compelling narrative and instead feels like a proof of concept for an entirely queer female universe. This would be great, providing each character had room to breath and have their own story, but condensing everything together here just feels bloated, unfocused and confusing. I think there's only one volume left after this so I'll probably finish it out, especially as there have been some genuinely wonderful moments in previous volumes. That said, if it wasn't wrapping up, the exhaustion of reading the past two trades would have been too much for me to continue.
Beautiful art, but still no coherent storyline. I think I’m done with this series.
Just finally catching up on my single issues, I love this series! Still one of my favourite comic book series of all time.
HELLO
why did it take me so long to read this? I don't know. BUT I devoured it (ha) just like I did with all the others, and I enjoyed it just as much. This series has taken my little nerdy femme heart and given me all the superheroines in 1940's garb that I could ever want.
The art is gorgeous, and the writing is as flawless as ever
