Kinsey Millhone books are always good, and this is no exception. There were some bits I saw coming and some that I didn't, but it was a fun and exciting read.

Engrossing mystery. But I felt like I was on an old episode of M*A*S*H, looking for the last chapter of the book. I see why this particular novel raised so much...discussion. It really has such a different ending than the other Millhone books. Still a great tale, but wow...

3 and a half stars--This seemed a little more mellow than most of the ABC books, but I didn't mind. I never read these with much expectations anyway, just a fluff mystery for fun.

This was an audio book, listened to in the car. Enjoyed it quite a lot, until the end, which I found abrupt. I'm going to look for the book in the library, to see if the end was reading the end ... it seems like there should have been an epilogue, as usual with Kinsey Millhone mysteries, and there wasn't.

Kinsey is asked to investigate the disappearance of a doctor; his ex-wife is worried that the police aren't making progress finding him. Fiona, the ex-wife, is not a sympathetic character; the current wife by-and-large comes off as one. There's a rebellious teenage stepdaughter, and the grownup daughters of Fiona as well (who are not well-fleshed out). And if there is fraud at the nursing home where the doctor was the medical administrator - who is responsible?

Kinsey is also looking for office space, and finds the perfect space ... only to find out about the problems with the landlords after signing the lease. This is the sub-plot that puts Kinsey in the most danger. The two plots don't really intersect.
