I almost DNFd this one when it came to a part involving a cat... however, the cat does not die, and after setting this one down for the night, I decided to finish it. Mainly because I really wanted to see River get her revenge. And she certainly does.

River is a broken, abused girl who has fought her way out of hell only to find herself back in it with her boyfriend, Ryan. And there are no words to describe Ryan. His entire presence in this book made me more angry with each passing page.

He does not get away with it, as in true H.D. Carlton fashion, though, and River is most definitely a badass! And Mako is the perfect sidekick for her.

4-stars overall.

Very dark but so so good!

So I’m not going to lie please read the trigger warnings before reading this book! It is very very dark and is massively situated around abuse.

I was very torn with this book as it was very triggering, personal and close to my heart to read however written in such a good way that I just couldn’t put it down. I was gripped from start to finish and honestly forgot that I actually have to adult

Rivers strength through this book is admirable. You follow her on the journey of the rough life that she was born into, then follow her in a relationship that is just as bad as the abuse she dealt with growing up, then finally seeing her be strong for herself and getting to show her trauma how she can move on! Read the triggers before you go into this book. But hd can not write a bad book, so I very much enjoyed this one!
